Viking Farm

During the period of 1995 – 2001, I have been actively building prehistoric settlements with the WEA (Workgroup Experimental Archeology of the NJBG). This farm is a reconstruction from the Iron Age, and is built with authentic techniques. The roof is constructed from a wooden skeleton and thatched with reed afterwards. Grass and clay were used to insulate the walls. The image on the left shows the prehistoric gear that I was wearing back then, so we would blend in with the enactors while working on the farms at the Archeon museum. We also built a Viking farm at “De Hollandsche Biesbosch” for education programs of schools.
