Projects

This page gives an overview of the projects I have been working on at V2_Lab or in collaboration with independent artists and designers. V2_ is an interdisciplinary center for art and media technology in Rotterdam (NL). At V2_Lab, artists and developers work together to produce art projects that make use of new technologies. As project manager I was supervising these interdisciplinary teams, often becoming a personal coach for the artist. Besides managing the creative process from concept to working prototype, I assisted hands-on in the production of the prototypes and organized events to present the resulting works.

Dandy Rotterdam

Dandy Rotterdam is a documentary series about contemporary dandyism. The documentary portrays three inspiring young dandies, reflecting on the city of Rotterdam. I assisted with the production.

Protei tows long oil sorbent booms and sails semi-autonomously upwind, intercepting oil sheens going downwind. The design is open source: Protei can be reproduced and modified by anyone for free. V2_ produced the first full scale working prototype.

Intimacy is a series of dresses that become transparent when someone approaches them. The distance towards the garments determines their level of transparency, involving wearer and audience in a sensual play of disclosure. V2_ co-developed the hardware and software for the smart foil and coached the fashion designers in the design process.

A growing interest in wearable technology in fashion design and art means more and more artists are confronted with a lack of technological expertise. The Don’t Code Just Stitch series offers a range of complex technical features to those who would rather stitch then code.
